Everything need to be eaten in moderation and balance. Food must be cooked fresh and should contain necessary ingredients because our body needs this in each season for effective digestion. Food with a hot nature must be consumed in cold season and those that are deemed to be cooling are good for summers. During rains, sweet, sour and salty food foods are preferred to aid a weakened digestion.Sweet taste is regarded as the most pleasant one. Sweetness is caused by glucose which is the simplest form of sugar. Sweet taste helps our body to build tissues. It also calms our nerves. The main sources for deriving sweet taste are fruits, grains, natural sugar, milk etc.

It helps in building body’s seven vital tissues as it increases the moisture and weight of the body. Sour taste energizes the body, strengthens the heart, improves the digestion system, maintains acidity, extracts iron from the food and sharpens the senses. It is commonly found in citrus fruits such as lemon and limes, sour milk products like yogurt, cheese, sour cream. It is also found in pickles, wine, vinegar and soy sauce.Salt is found in almost every food .It is in low or less to moderate proportions just simply to enhance flavor. However eating pure salt is regarded as highly unpleasant. Salty taste improves the flavor and taste of food, helps in digestion, maintains mineral balance, aids in the eradication of wastes, and calms the nerves. Salt has a tendency to attract water, thus it improves the radiance of the skin and promotes overall growth in the body. Bitter taste is found in spinach, cabbage, kale and other green leafy vegetables, and also in other vegetables such as eggplant and zucchini.

Certain herbs and spices like turmeric, fenugreek, and dandelion root and coffee, tea, and fruits such as grapefruits, olives, and melon are also bitter in taste. While Bitter taste is often not appealing alone, it stimulates the appetite and helps bring out the flavor of the other tastes. In modern world the importance of personalizing is increasing and food is no exception. Diet also needs to be personalized to take into account individual body types. Food with the opposite properties need to eaten to balance the diet.
